Renaissance Millworks Reclaimed

In 1981, a well-known local architect by the name of Scott Schoel was looking for world-class millwork. Ultimately, he created Renaissance Woodshop out of necessity to make his unique designs a reality. For many years, Renaissance did incredible millwork throughout the region. It was the premier place in North Alabama for exquisite woodworking. If a church needed its doors re-built, if ornate cypress pillars needed replacing, or if a homeowner wanted world-class custom cabinets, Renaissance was the answer. Sadly, a number of  years ago, Steve Curtis, its master carpenter, passed away following a tragic accident. When no one could fill his shoes, Renaissance closed its doors. For many years, the Walnut Street building sat empty, a shadow of its past. In 2021, Master Builder and Carpenter Steven Wessling, together with some friends, reclaimed Renaissance Woodshop. The Decatur Christmas Tour is excited to announce to our community and beyond that world-class millwork is back and is once again on Walnut Street in Decatur. As it once did, Renaissance Woodshop has truly been reclaimed to serve the community by providing world-class millwork.  Please join us on December 14 as Renaissance Reclaimed enlightens us with their woodworking skills and educates us on where we can locally find anything from timber framing to custom cabinets as well as other wood products.
