First United Methodist Church Headquarters
805 Canal Street NE
In 1835, Decatur’s First United Methodist Church was built on a portion of the block bounded by Bank, Lafayette, Railroad and Church Streets. This historic church has endured the Civil War, two yellow fever epidemics, and one Covid pandemic. Over the past 107 years, the church has undergone several additions. These additions include a new three story addition containing the Wesley Fellowship Hall and classrooms. One of the highlights of the beautiful exterior landscape is the Trinity Fountain. First United Methodist Church is serving as this year’s tour headquarters and the sanctuary will be open for tours. During this year’s tour, light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall for ticketholders. Decatur’s historic First United Methodist Church welcomes you to visit and fellowship as part of this year’s Christmas tour.
